The Rückshau Exercise

So this is the time of year where we are stuck between summer and autumn. This can be rough, but if we embrace what is really going on, embrace it head on, we can make this transition much smoother. If we take the experiences and events of the summer, and fully embrace them to use them, we can approach fall with full energy, charged up and ready to let our light shine!

Just as our etheric reacts to the seasons, so it does with your sleep cycle. During seasonal times, our etheric is either “sleeping” or very active (I say “sleeping” because it never really sleeps, just rests). The same principles apply to sleeping and waking. While your physical body is awake and active during the day, your etheric is resting and observing. But while you sleep at night, it is very active, working for you and connecting to the cosmos. Ok… that’s good to know, but what can we do about it?

So… just as with the seasons, when you are sleeping, your etheric is active. The first thing it wants to do when you go to sleep, is review your day. It is very active making notes and recording everything you did during that day. There is an exercise we can do which will strengthen our memory, life-force, and our etheric. It is a reflection exercise. We review our day so that our etheric forces are freed up to do other things, helping us feel more rested in the morning. If we can strengthen our life-forces and strengthen our etheric, we can have more life-force and more powerful etheric energies to work with when doing eurythmy!

Here is how you do the exercise. Our goal is to eventually be able to review our whole day, but in reverse order. But don’t start by doing this right away! Start with only the last hour of your day. Before you go to sleep at night, play backwards in your mind, the last hour before you got into bed. Make sure you are done with your day and you have no distractions. Do not spend longer than roughly 10 minutes on this. The most important thing to remember is to be as objective and non-judgmental as possible. The point IS NOT to look back with regret or anger, nor to think what would have happened had you done something differently. Just be an observer. Simply take note of what is going on and who is involved. Just let it happen. It will almost be as if your memory is a video camera recording an event. Remember to play it backwards. Overtime, your memory forces will increase and you will be able to increase the time you reflect back… two hours of your day… half of your day. But this takes a lot of time and practice, even a lifetime. Not only will this exercise strengthen your memory, life and etheric forces, it also strengthens your objectivity. You will begin to see events in real time, as they are happening, without judgement. This will help you to remain impartial to events that happen during the day and therefore able to make better decisions.

So give this exercise a try this week. Remember, to only work on the last hour of your day to start. Do it in 10 minutes, but no longer than 15. Make sure you are relaxed and comfortable, but not so comfortable that you fall asleep or else you won’t have the chance to improve! Work on this for months! Remember as much detail as you can until you are remembering it all! After you feel like you are doing a good job remembering all the details, increase it to the last hour and a half… do this for months! Then the last 2 hours… work it up little by little. Some of us never get to reviewing our whole day. I have not made it that far! Honestly, I fall asleep half the time when I do it, but I don’t beat myself up. Every little bit I can remember and review is less my etheric has to do, so I count it for a win! And I keep trying. A little tip I find that helps is lying on my back with my knees bent and my feet flat, pulled in towards my bottom. It is comfortable enough that I can concentrate but not so comfortable that I fall asleep. (Yet somehow I still do a lot of the time! Lol!)

Give it a go! See what you can do. See how well you do or how far you need to go. Make improvement little by little. DO NOT RUSH IT! Take the months (or even years) that you need to build it up. Good luck! Free up those energies!
